What We Do
We are supporting the study (=learning) of student-athletes so that all student-athletes can lead fulfilling lives.
Athlearn creates instructional materials and lecture programs to support the learning of student athletes. The name, Athlearn, comes from our wish to help student athletes (= Athletes) succeed academically (= Learning) and enrich their futures.
The concept of a “dual career” considers both the university athletic department student’s career as an athlete and as a working adult, allowing them to have a successful life even after they retire from competition.
We are committed to supporting athletes who are active in their competitive lives and who aspire to “compete for the rest of their lives” and “improve their athletic skills even more.”
The average age at which athletes retire is around 30 years old. Athletes then pursue diverse career paths, such as coaching, membership in an athletic organization, or employment with a general company. But, to do so, they must possess a variety of skills, including logical thinking, verbalization, and communication. These abilities are also those that one acquires as an athlete, including tactic-based thinking, data interpretation, and communication with teammates.
In order to further hone these skills, it is necessary to not only work hard in sports, but also in academics while still a student.
Therefore, we develop and offer programs that inspire student athletes to take an interest in academics through the lens of sports, and to hone their personal strengths through the interplay between academics and competition.
The materials are designed to motivate students to learn in order to promote a healthy balance between athletics and academics. These materials enhance students' comprehension of the purpose of learning, the learning process, and the relationship between learning and sports.
We recommend using these materials for university entrance preparation, first-year curricula, etc.
